Let’s face it, more often than not, we are plagued with laziness and crave comfort and ease. We’re not always motivated to make an effort to put together a stylish outfit, and instead we are tempted to throw on sweats. A killer outfit isn’t vital for every single outing, every day of the week. Rocking sweats in public is perfectly fine!
You can still feel confident about how you look and not have to pray you won’t run into anyone you know looking like a slob. You can be comfortable and wear sweats while still looking presentable and even cute, as long as you choose your outfit correctly.
Avoid clothes that are swimming on you, and avoid looking like you got dressed in the dark from wearing totally un matching clothes. What was acceptable to wear to class in college is usually not okay to wear in public. If you want to be comfortable and still look attractive, you have to wear the right kinds of clothes.
Save the baggy sweatpants and bulky sweatshirts for your down time at home. They do nothing favorable for your figure or appearance and can make you look sloppy, careless and most dreaded of all - much heavier.
Invest in comfortable clothes that are tasteful and clean looking (think Juicy Couture, Victoria’s Secret lounge wear, and yoga class style). Some of the must have items include: fitted black yoga pants, zip ups that are not too loose, comfy cotton tops such as tees, and hoodless sweatshirts. You can find zip ups in tons of plain colors which are easy to throw on and match with. Also, a recent really cute trend stores are carrying is off the shoulder sweatshirts which are a definite must have.
Dark body hugging sweatpants are flattering on every figure and look great. Solid colored pants that aren’t too flashy or outrageous are acceptable as well. Fitted bottoms look good with close-fitting as well as looser tops, so there are a variety of options and looks to pair them with.
If tight bottoms are not your thing, the good news is you don’t have to give up your looser fitting sweatpants. To make them public appropriate, be sure they aren’t overly baggy and pair them with a fitted top to counterbalance the outfit.
Matching is vital for any outfit, sweats included. Many items already in your wardrobe can be worn with sweatpants such as basic cotton tops, casual tops and sweaters. Don’t let the fact that you are “dressing down” serve as a free pass to throw on whatever. Hey, you never know who you might meet...
With just minimal effort, being comfortable can look as good as it feels.
