Pinterest

The newest and most creatively smart social media phenomenon is gaining popularity and recognition fast. Pinterest is an online "pin board" where you create different boards with a topic or theme to pin related pictures on. Your boards are a reflection of you in images - what you like, what you think, who you are.

You can chose to follow friend's boards to see what they're pinning, or even follow a complete stranger whose board reflects things that interest you. If you see a picture that captures your attention and appeals to you, you can then pin it onto your board.

Among the noticeably popular pin board themes, fashion and style is one of the most significant. Images of innovative and chic outfits or clothing are constantly circulating the website waiting to get "re-pinned". What's so remarkable about this site is that there's more than just the expected and predictable editorial or professional images of celebrities and models - anyone can have their moment.

You can chose to share a piece of yourself with others. Members can share their personal images, and many people upload pictures of their created outfits to circulate the site for others to see and hopefully pin onto their boards if they like what they see.

Having a personal webpage that holds images that inspire you or speak to you is perfect for using as a reference for future use. Keeping pictures you like in one spot that is easy to access allows you to use your picture collections for ideas and inspiration in your life.

Whether it be an outfit you want to copy, a recipe you want to cook, or a hairstyle you are dying to try, these pin boards encourage creativity and new ideas just waiting to be used.

Accessories = More Styling Options

There comes a time when we all get bored with our wardrobe and find ourselves repeating the same outfits over and over. Craving a style change? Creating new fashionable looks doesn’t even require shopping.

Racking up a ridiculous bill from buying new clothes and other items isn’t something most people can afford to do. For shopaholics with the opposite problem, purchasing things that can’t even fit into an overly packed closet isn’t the answer either.

Most of the time you don’t even need to buy new items in order to change up your look and create different outfits. Putting together an original look using the same pieces in your wardrobe can be done with the help of accessories.

Accessory pieces can change the entire look of an outfit. They can be used as a focal point and center of attention by standing out among the other parts of an outfit which should be simple. Such pieces can be used as the most important component in a look by taking interest away from everything else which then becomes minor details and won’t be paid much attention. Doing this allows you to quickly and easily put together a basic outfit that can be styled up with a simple accessory.

Accessories can also be used to compliment or add depth to an outfit with its colors, textures, features and overall look. They provide details that make a look more appealing, captivating and original. Accessory pieces allow you to create a totally different look using the same clothes.

The ability to creatively put together a new outfit comes from incorporating different accessories into an outfit such as adding a belt, layering necklaces, or wearing a scarf for example.

You can incorporate the same accessory pieces into a variety of totally different looks which gives you the ability to create endless outfits with what's already in your wardrobe. Accessories can be used over and over again in different ways with endless outfits.

These easy styling items are a must have for every wardrobe, and the more variety the better!

Timeless Fashions for the Vintage Lover

Magazine advertisements and editorials are full of innovative, creative styles. One of the clever details that many stylists as well as your average fashionable woman incorporates into outfits are vintage pieces. They give a twist to any look because of their older, classic yet unusual style that definitely makes a unique and interesting statement.

It can be difficult to come across authentic and fabulous vintage pieces in your average retail store unless you find a place that carries such items. There are very few stores that specialize in vintage, but there are actually quite a few stores right in front of us that are vintage fashion gold mines. You can even find older designer pieces that will always have value and symbolize a piece of fashion history.
An unexpected place to look is antique stores which can have a variety of great rare vintage fashions. That's right, among the furniture and art from past decades, most antique stores do have jewelry and accessories just waiting to be discovered.  Another no brainer is consignment stores which are another go to for vintage shopping. Estate sales and your grandmother or mother's closet could also be promising places to look as well.
Vintage jewelry, belts, handbags and shoes are great for adding some spice to a look and will definitely style up any outfit. Accessories can be used over and over again with different outfits to create a variety of beautiful chic looks. Since accessory pieces make up the accented details in an outfit, they aren't overwhelming and are a comfortable starting point for those who want to try out vintage wear.
On the other hand, you can create a bold look by pairing vintage clothing with more simple and current pieces. Wearing a vintage garment will really stand out and be the focus of an outfit since it is a different style and look than the rest.
Vintage clothes that are best to look for include coats, blazers, tops, and dresses. Don't pick crazy looking, odd fitting, way out dated styles that are known for their not so glamorous past. Make sure the clothing is still stylish as well as wearable by having a flattering shape and fit, or you can tailor them if necessary. Such pieces are easily worn and can be styled with up to date items for a fashion forward look.
Whether you accessorize a look by adding vintage pieces, or make vintage clothing the heart of an outfit, they will undoubtedly make a bold and original statement that will grab attention.

Every wardrobe should have older styles to create inventive and fashionable new looks!

Buying Designer or Inspired

We all know that the decision to buy a real designer item can be difficult since they put a nice dent in your bank account. There are pieces in certain situations when it’s worth buying the real thing, and others will most likely get limited use or you’ll get sick of easily.
You should splurge on the real thing if it is a classic, more simple style that can be worn with almost everything. It should be something you know you’ll wear forever and won’t get bored with.
You shouldn’t shell out big bucks for trendier styles that you’ll only wear a few times and would stop wearing when it’s no longer “in style” or its trend comes to an end. Also, if you want a design that has limited options to be worn with because of its color for example, you’re better off buying a cheaper version since its price is not worth the restricted use.
If you love a trendy designer style but don’t like to use fakes, look for a similar item that doesn’t pose as being authentic, and instead find a cheaper look alike that is inspired by the designer.
Think about how often you would use whatever it is you’re considering buying and decide if the price tag is worth it.

Look Fashionable While Staying Warm

Let’s be honest, when it is 20 degrees outside and that winter wind blows right though your clothes numbing every bit of your body, it’s hard to make style a priority when warmth is all you can think about.
Sweats and Uggs seem like the best outfit choice because they are warm, cozy and comfortable… but they don’t make the greatest fashion statement. If you find the right clothing and learn how to layer, you can beat the frigid temperatures while looking fabulous.
We’ll start with tops. Sweaters, tunics, long sleeve shirts, vests and jackets are key. You can layer all of them differently to create a variety of warmer looks. Buy thicker sweaters to wear alone or over a long sleeve shirt for extra warmth. Thinner sweaters and tunics can be layered with different kinds of sweaters, vests, and even lighter jackets such as blazers, leather jackets, and other shorter or cropped styles too. Cardigans and other open style sweaters can be easily worn over anything for an added layer.
You should have simple heavy outerwear, such as a classic black pea coat, that can be worn with essentially everything. However, more interesting coats can make a bold statement since they are one of the first things people will notice about your outfit. Bold colors, different styles and interesting patterns will make the outer part of your outfit just as marvelous and stylish as what it’s hiding underneath.
For bottoms, thickness is very important. Jeans always work as an option and leggings are a simple chic go to, but you must be picky with them. Lots of leggings are very thin and can even become slightly see through once you put them on. Those definitely won’t keep you warm. Make sure you find a pair that is thick enough to look like pants instead of tights and doesn’t expose your skin.
Shoes can also play a major part in helping you stay warm. Flats, for example, aren’t the best choice since they don’t cover your ankles and part of your foot. Boots are the best seasonal footwear because they are not only warm since they cover part of your leg, they are also very fashionable and can style up an outfit. Boots can be worn with anything and for any occasion. Flat knee high boots are great for a more casual and simple look, or you can add some sass to an outfit with heeled boots or thigh highs. Booties are another great option which give another take on the typical boot style by giving a totally different look. For easy wear and added warmth, buy a shoe size that you can wear with socks while still being comfortable to walk around in.
Accessories can also add some style and warmth to an outfit. Scarves are a must have and can be incorporated into any look since they come in all kinds of colors and fun prints. If you really want to bundle up you can wear a cute pair of gloves, hat, or ear warmers.
Stay warm and still look stylish!
